Jason made his racecourse debut in 1990. Numerically his best season was in 2006 when he rode 17 winners, however, in April 2007 he suffered a serious knee injury which ended his career.

Married to Claire Balding, the daughter of trainer John Balding, Jason went on to play a key role in preparing Balding’s 2008 Dubai Carnival winner, Turn On The Style. Jason’s son, Lewis, is a professional Flat jockey and his daughter-in-law, Jessica Macey, is a trainer. He remains very hands-on in the industry, including training the next generation of jockeys who partake in Pony Racing.
