Irish-born Davy rode his first winner in 2002 for Yorkshire-based trainer Ferdy Murphy. After two successful seasons in the UK, he returned to Ireland to ride for Edward O’Grady.  In 2006 he rode his first Cheltenham Festival winner, Native Jack, in the Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase for trainer, Phillip Rothwell.

Davy went on to win 25 races at The Cheltenham Festival, including in 2014 when he partnered Lord Windermere in the Gold Cup. In 2018 he was crowned Leading Jockey. His glittering career also saw him establish a formidable partnership with the great Tiger Roll, on whom he won the 2018 and 2019 Aintree Grand National. He was crowned Irish Champion Jump Jockey three times.
