Irish-born Robbie won the world’s greatest steeplechase, the Aintree Grand National in 2007 on Silver Birch. 10 years later he stormed to victory in the Cheltenham Gold Cup on Sizing John. In the same year, he landed a historic treble of Gold Cups which included the Irish Gold Cup at Leopardstown and the Gold Cup at Punchestown.

In total, he rode 31 Grade One winners. He retired after partnering Teahupoo in the Paddy Power Champion Hurdle at Punchestown on 29 April, 2022.
