Yorkshire-born Jamie was runner-up (to Sir AP McCoy OBE) in the 1996/97 Jump Jockey Championship; a season which saw him record a staggering 131 winners. Best known for his association with Lambourn trainer, Oliver Sherwood, Jamie rode his first Cheltenham Festival winner in 1991. In 1992 he landed five races at the Cheltenham Festival, including the Queen Mother Chase on Remittance Man, and was crowned Leading Jockey.
Upon retirement, Jamie switched his focus to that of training and today has a glittering CV that includes multiple Group and Listed winners. His daughter, Saffie, is a Flat jockey who recorded her first Group level success at Royal Ascot this year.
